Stromal cell-derived factor-1 alpha (SDF-1 alpha), also called CXCL12a, is one of two SDF-1 splice variants made by a wide variety of cells upon stimulation by inflammatory cytokines such as TNF, IL-1, and LPS. SDF-1alpha signals through the G protein-coupled receptor CXCR4 to recruit activated leukocytes. Human and mouse SDF-1 alpha share 99% sequence identity.

Endotoxin: Less than 0.1 ng/µg (1 IEU/µg) as determined by LAL test.
Biological Activity was determined by Bioactive protein. Centrifuge vial before opening, Suspend the product by gently pipetting the above recommended solution down the sides of the vial. DO NOT VORTEX. Allow several minutes for complete reconstitution. For prolonged storage, dilute to working aliquots in a 0.1% BSA solution, store at -80°C and avoid repeat freeze thaws. Upon reconstitution, a small amount of visible precipitate can be expected. A 10% overfill has been added to the total material vialed to compensate for this loss.

Tissue Specificity: Highest expression levels detected in kidney, liver, spleen and muscle. Isoform Alpha is expressed ubiquitously but at varying levels, while isoform Beta displays tissue-specific expression, with expression detected in kidney, liver, heart, spleen and muscle but not in lung, colon, brain, skin and stomach.
