The PO3.1 monoclonal antibody specifically reacts with CD86, also known as B7-2, a surface 80 kDa receptor and member of the B7 family. CD86 is a costimulatory molecule, expressed on B and T cells, dendritic cells, astrocytes, macrophages, Langerhans cells, and at a low level in newly explanted B and T lymphocytes. CD86 expression on B lymphocytes is upregulated by B-Cell Receptor complex, CD40 and certain cytokine receptors. CD80 (B7-1) and CD86 (B7-2) are receptors for CD28 and CTLA-4, on the surface of T lymphocytes, enhancing the interactions between B and T cells.
The antibody has been analyzed for quality through the flow cytometric analysis of the relevant cell type. It is recommended that the reagent be titrated for optimal performance for each application.
