This monoclonal antibody specifically binds to human CD16, a low affinity Fc receptor. It is expressed on NK, neutrophils, macrophages, monocytes, and placental trophoblasts. CD16 is expressed in CD16a and CD16b forms. CD16a is a polyeptide anchored transmembrane protein and CD16b is a monomeric glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI)-anchored protein found in neutrophils. CD16 is reported to be involved in NK cell activation and signal transduction.
The antibody has been analyzed for quality through the flow cytometric analysis of the relevant cell type. It is recommended that the reagent be titrated for optimal performance for each application.
