Recognizes a glycoprotein of ~200kDa, identified as carbonic anhydrase IX (CAIX/gp200). Carbonic Anhydrases (CAs) are members of a large family of zinc metallo-enzymes that catalyze the reversible hydration of carbon dioxide. CAs are involved in a variety of biological processes, including respiration, calcification, acid-base balance, bone resorption and the formation of aqueous humor, cerebrospinal fluid, saliva and gastric juice. They show extensive diversity in distribution and in their subcellular localization. CA IX is specifically expressed in clear-cell renal carcinomas.

Western Blot (1-2ug/ml); Immunohistochemistry (Formalin-fixed) (1-2ug/ml for 30 minutes at RT)(Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires heating tissue sections in 10mM Tris with 1mM EDTA, pH 9.0, for 45 min at 95°C followed by cooling at RT for 20 minutes);

For Research Use Only. Not for use in diagnostic/therapeutics procedures.

Subcellular location: Nucleus, Nucleus, Cell membrane, Cell projection
Post transnational modification: Asn-346 bears high-mannose type glycan structures.
Tissue Specificity: Expressed primarily in carcinoma cells lines. Expression is restricted to very few normal tissues and the most abundant expression is found in the epithelial cells of gastric mucosa.
BioGrid: 107223. 30 interactions.
