Alternative Name : Methionine aminopeptidase, MAP, Peptidase M, map, b0168, JW0163.
Source : Escherichia Coli. MAP produced in E.Coli is a single, non-glycosylated polypeptide chain containing 284 amino acids (1-264 a.a.) and having a molecular mass of 31.5kDa.MAP is fused to a 20 amino acid His-tag at N-terminus & purified by proprietary chromatographic techniques. Methionine aminopeptidases and designated peptidase M proteins belong to the M24 family of proteins. MAP protein removes the amino-terminal methionine residue from nascent polypeptides. The active site of MAP contains 2 adjacent divalent metal ions connected by a water molecule or hydroxide ion.
