Storage condition : Lyophilized KGF although stable at room temperature for 3 weeks, should be stored desiccated below -18°C. KGF Human Recombinant produced in HEK cells is a glycosylated monomer, having a molecular weight range of 17-30kDa due to glycosylation.The KGF is purified by proprietary chromatographic techniques. KGF is a member of the fibroblast growth factor (FGF) family. FGF family members possess broad mitogenic and cell survival activities, and are involved in a variety of biological processes, including embryonic development, cell growth, morphogenesis, tissue repair, tumor growth and invasion. FGF7 is a potent epithelial cell-specific growth factor, whose mitogenic activity is predominantly exhibited in keratinocytes but not in fibroblasts and endothelial cells. Studies of mouse and rat homologs of this gene implicated roles in morphogenesis of epithelium, reepithelialization of wounds, hair development and early lung organogenesis.

It is recommended to reconstitute the lyophilized KGF in sterile water not less than 100µg/ml, which can then be further diluted to other aqueous solutions. The specific activity was determined by the dose-dependent stimulation of the proliferation of 4MBr-5 cells (monkey epithelial cell line) and is typically 1.5-7.5ng/ml corresponding to a Specific Activity of 133,334-666,667IU/mg.
