Matrix metalloproteinase-26 (MMP26) is a member of matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) and has been reported to be highly expressed in many cancers. MMP26 is a target gene of miR-125b. And the expression profile of MMP26 showed an inverse relationship with miR-125b in vivo and in vitro. The overexpression of MMP26 in SW1353 cells increased cell invasiveness, while inhibition of MMP26 decreased cell invasiveness.

Measured by its ability to cleave the fluorogenic peptide substrate, Mca-Pro-Leu-Gly-Leu-Dpa-Ala-Arg-NH2. The specific activity is > 60 pmol/min/µg.
