Source : E.coli. CYTH2 Human Recombinant produced in E. coli is a single polypeptide chain containing 422 amino acids (1-399) and having a molecular mass of 48.9 kDa. CYTH2 is fused to a 23 amino acid His-tag at N-terminus & purified by proprietary chromatographic techniques. Cytohesin 2 (CYTH2) is an ARF-1 guanine nucleotide exchange factor (GEF). ARF (ADP ribosylation factor) proteins are a part of a group within the RAS superfamily and bindes GTP-b proteins central to the process of vesicle budding. CYTH2 promotes guanine-nucleotide exchange on ARF1, ARF3 and ARF6. Furthermore, CYTH2 promotes the activation of ARF factors through replacement of GDP with GTP. The protein encoded by CYTH2 is a member of the PSCD family. Members of PSCD family appear to mediate the regulation of protein sorting and membrane trafficking. The cell membrane form, in association with ARL4 proteins, recruits ARF6 to the plasma membrane.
