CTSL Human Recombinant produced in E.Coli is a single,
non-glycosylated polypeptide chain containing 339 amino acids (18-333 a.a) and
having a molecular mass of 38.3kDa.CTSL is fused to a 23 amino acid His-tag at N-terminus
& purified by proprietary chromatographic techniques.
Cathepsin-L also known as CTSL is a member of the peptidase C1 family.
CTSL, is a dimer composed of disulfide-linked heavy and light chains, both
formed from a single protein precursor. Furthermore, CTSL is a lysosomal
cysteine proteinase which takes a main part in intracellular protein
catabolism. CTSL substrates include collagen and elastin, as well as alpha-1
protease inhibitor, which is the most important controlling element of
neutrophil elastase activity. CTSL has been implicated in a number of pathologic
processes, including myofibril necrosis in myopathies and in myocardial
ischemia, and in the renal tubular response to proteinuria. Multiple
alternatively spliced transcript variants have been found for CTSL.
