Immunogen Information : A partial length recombinant 14-3-3 protein (amino acids 20-225) was used as the immunogen for this antibody.

YWHAQ, also known as 14-3-3 tau (14-3-3tau) is a a phosphoserine-binding protein and a member of the 14-3-3 family of proteins. The 14-3-3 family members are dimeric phosphoserine/ phosphothreonine-binding proteins, which are involved in a very diverse spectrum of signaling pathways. YWHAQ plays a critical role in the regulation of E2F1 stability. It binds to Ser31-phosphorylated E2F1 and inhibits the ubiquitination of E2F1 during DNA damage. The binding of YWHAQ to E2F1 interferes with the function of an E31 ligase and therefore inhibits the ubiquitination and degradation of E2F1. This interaction is required for the expression and induction of several E2F1 apoptotic target genes as well as apoptosis during DNA damage.

Western blot analysis: 2-4 µg/ml

For Research Use Only. Not for use in diagnostic/therapeutics procedures.

Subcellular location: Cytoplasm
Post transnational modification: Ser-232 is probably phosphorylated by CK1.
Tissue Specificity: Abundantly expressed in brain, heart and pancreas, and at lower levels in kidney and placenta. Up-regulated in the lumbar spinal cord from patients with sporadic amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) compared with controls, with highest levels of expression in individuals with predominant lower motor neuron involvement.
BioGrid: 116168. 448 interactions.
